Ginette Hernández was a graduate of the School of Arts at the Central University of Venezuela and community manager of E! Entertaiment, when officials of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) burst into her office in Las Mercedes, on October 15, 2014, and took her by force, without an arrest warrant.
She was accused of running the Twitter account @hiipolita, which allegedly predicted the death of deputy Robert Serra. She faced the charges of misleading offer, coercion and dissemination of false information. The las charge was dismissed when it was proved that she did not have access to the account.
Being innocent, she was sentenced to serve a 15-month sentence, in which she suffered violations of due process that she denounced in three letters sent from her cell to Minister Iris Varela. On November 19, 2015, she was released.
