On November 26, 2015, Gustavo had just registered his second semester of Law at the Rafael Belloso Chacín University in Maracaibo. Upon leaving the house of studies and in the middle of a student protest, he was approached by a group of unidentified people, who accused him of having participated in the burning of a bus.
Despite his denials, he was beaten and assaulted with sticks and broken bottles. The attackers also stole their belongings before handing him over to the National Guard. He was presented before the Fifth Court in functions of Control of Maracaibo, instance that maintained the deprivation of liberty.
Today, Gustavo is one of the political prisoners unjustly imprisoned in Tocuyito together with common prisoners, a situation that has put his physical integrity and his life at risk. The authorities have not been able to show evidence incriminating Gustavo of the crimes that are imputed to him. He is innocent!
