Igbert Marin belonged to the 312th Motorized Cavalry Group “GB Juan Pablo Ayala” of Fuerte Tiuna and was also the commander of the Ayala Battalion, the unit with the greatest fighting capacity in the metropolitan area and the containment regiment in charge of protecting the seat of all institutions of the government settled in the capital, and high personalities of the national government.

On March 2, 2018, Igbert was taken to the office of the Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino López. After a brief meeting, he was transferred as a detainee to the headquarters of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim) in Boleíta.

He’s linked to a supposed rebellion against Nicolás Maduro and accused of leading an alleged group called Transition Movement of the Dignity of the People, for which eight other officials were also arrested. They relate him to Miguel Rodríguez Torres for some telephone conversations.

A military court accuses him of treason, instigation of rebellion and actions against military decorum. On March 2, 2018, officials of the Dgcim raided his residence in Caracas.

Igbert is currently detained in Santa Ana prison, in the Táchira state, far from his relatives and relatives.
