Juan David Poletti was arbitrarily detained on June 10, 2015, while he was working at the JL Ahumados Shop in Valencia, Carabobo state. A court accuses him of having participated in the killing of the captain of the National Guard Ramzor Bracho, which occurred on March 12, 2014 during a protest in the Naguanagua sector.
It weighs on him the imputation for the crimes of homicide qualified by futile motive, frustrated homicide for futile motive, public instigation in degree of author and association to commit a crime. However, his defense ensures that there are no elements that link him to the murder.
Juan is being held in a common prison: in Tocuyito he has suffered situations that put his physical integrity at risk. On April 10, 2018, he was taken hostage in a riot organized by the prisoners inside the prison.
