Lisbeth Añez, known as the Angel of the Political Prisoners or mother Liss, was arbitrarily detained since May 10, 2017 in El Helicoide, one of the headquarters of the Political Police of Venezuela (SEBIN). Lisbeth is a professional administrator and since 2014 she started her activism helping and supporting Political Prisoners and their families. Lisbeth visited the political prisoners and brought them clothes, food and medicines, in addition to participate actively in the activities to demand them release. According to his lawyer’s statements, Mamá Liss is accused of “allegedly collaborating with people who organize protests”. The crimes that were charged are military rebellion and treason.

Lisbeth, like all political prisoners, is innocent, and her detention was plagued by irregularities and human rights violations.

After 118 days arbitrarily detained, Mamá Lis was released under precautionary measures on September 6, 2017.
