Luis Alejandro Mogollón was part of the group of degraded soldiers and expelled from the National Armed Forces for having publicly expressed their discontent against the regime of Nicolás Maduro. According to the Official Gazette of February 28, 2018, the more than 12 affected officials tried by “violent means” to change “the republican form of the nation”.

The lieutenant of the Venezuelan Army was accused, moreover, of “having created imbalance and anxiety, having attempted against the freedom and independence of the nation, and having made excessive and disproportionate misuse of weapons of war.”

Qualified as “unworthy of belonging to the FAN” for exercising his freedom of expression, Luis was captured by officials of the Directorate General of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim) on March 28, 2017. He was charged with the charge of military rebellion.

Luis has been the victim of torture, ill-treatment and flagrant violation of his human rights. Currently, he remains as prisoner of conscience in the Ramo Verde military prison. He’s innocent.
