Name: Ángela Lizbeth Expósito Carrillo
Arbitrarily detained: September 22, 2018
Place of confinement: El Helicoide
Occupation: Teacher and animal protectionist
The alleged attack against Nicolás Maduro in a military act led to a series of arbitrary arrests in the capital. Angela Lizbeth was one of the victims of that wave of persecution. The teacher, researcher and director of the Fundanimal NGO was arrested in the early hours of September 22, 2018.
According to information offered by Foro Penal, the activist became a target of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) for having under her care pets belonging to political prisoners, persecuted and murdered by the communist regime, including the dog of inspector Oscar Pérez .
However, the First Special Court of First Instance in Control Functions associated her with the attack on Avenida Bolívar, accusing her of hiding one of the presumed persons involved in the drone attack. On September 29, Angela was charged with the crimes of association to commit a crime, financing of terrorism and concealment.
The indictment was given without the presence of her lawyers and totally cut off from her relatives, who spent more than 10 days without hearing about her. Today, she is unjustly imprisoned in El Helicoide cells.
