Carlos Aristimuño was an official of the former Directorate of Intelligence and Prevention Services (Disip). On April 18, 2018, a commission sent by the General Military Prosecutor’s Office arrested him in his home, located on the main avenue of El Bosque, Chacao municipality of Caracas.
That same day, the aviation pilot was accused by Minister Néstor Reverol of being an instructor of a resistance movement. According to the official, the alleged destabilizing group aimed to place explosives on a helicopter at the Francisco de Miranda air base. Besides Aristimuño, about ten other people were unjustly apprehended that day.
On May 19, 2018, a month after his arbitrary detention, Foro Penal denounced that Aristimuño had suffered a severe digestive hemorrhage. The health condition of the 60-year-old pilot is delicate and his relatives fear for his life. He’s innocent.
