Eduardo Figueroa

Name: Eduardo Figueroa Marchena

Arbitrarily detained: June 25, 2015

Place of confinement: Ramo Verde

Occupation: First Lieutenant (R) of the Air Force

When Eduardo Figueroa decided to retire from the military career in respect to his principles, he began to be persecuted by the Venezuelan regime. On him weighed two arrest warrants: one for the alleged legitimization of capital in a housing complex in Nueva Esparta and another for his supposed link to the “Blue Strike”, a plan forged by several military that according to Nicolás Maduro planned to overthrow him in 2014.

The situation motivated Eduardo to flee the country. On June 25, 2015, while processing his documentation in Panama, he was arrested by the authorities of that country and deported to Venezuela, where the authorities confined him in Ramo Verde, a military prison.

On March 21, 2018, a military court sentenced Figueroa to 3 years and 9 months in prison for the crime of rebellion.

Eduardo, like all political prisoners, is innocent. #LiberenAEduardo #LibertadParaTODOSPososPolíticos
