Name: Johander Ceibas
Arbitrarily detained: January 11, 2018
Place of confinement: Ramo Verde
Occupation: Lieutenant of the FAN
Johander is one of the lieutenants detained by officials of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim) on January 11, 2018, in the middle of the wave of persecution that arose after the El Junquito massacre.
Alonso Medina, director of Foro Penal, said that the military were imprisoned for publishing videos of the massacre. A Major of the Army surnamed Marval testified that Johander was related to former murdered inspector Oscar Pérez, but he didn’t detail how they were connected, so that until today the link between Lieutenant Ceibas and Pérez is unknown. His defense says that all allegations are based on assumptions.
Johander was first detained at Dgcim’s headquarters, without being presented to the courts. Later, he was transferred to the Ramo Verde military prison. A court martial accuses him of treason against the homeland, military rebellion and theft of assets of the Armed Forces. He’s innocent.
