Jormanth Linares was arbitrarily detained on October 5, 2017, in Miranda state. Vice President Tareck El Aissami accused him on national television of being responsible for an attack with explosives against police units during the protests in Altamira on July 30, 2017. The state media dubbed him “the bomb man”.
Recently, Jormanth fulfilled more than 100 days waiting for his preliminary hearing in the dungeons of the Sebin headquarters in El Helicoide, Caracas. The First Court of Control with competence in Crimes of Terrorism, in charge of the judge Carol Padilla, takes his cause and that of the deputy Juan Requesens.
Relatives report that Jormanth has been subjected to torture. After his arrest, he was placed in a cell with more than 80 common prisoners in total isolation. At the end of November, he was charged without evidence of alleged terrorist offenses against State security forces. He’s innocent.
