The court in charge of his case charged him with the crimes of incitement to hatred, outrage, conspiracy and improper access. Even, the Twitter user was accused of having been involved in a flight plan for Leopoldo López and having hacked the accounts of Jacqueline Faría, Gabriela Ramírez and Eduardo Lima, all government officials.
Leonel, in addition, was a victim of torture: he spent eight months without seeing the sunlight and was imprisoned in The Tomb for a month, totally isolated. On July 14, 2017, a humanitarian measure was declared in his favor for a fissure suffered in the column, but he did not receive the benefit.
He was released by a measure of the National Constituent Assembly on December 24, 2017, avoiding his fourth Christmas behind bars. On his first night, he tells that he dedicated himself to look at the stars. He had not seen them since he was imprisoned in 2014.
