Luis Lugo is one of the soldiers detained by the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim) on February 11, 2015 in Maracay, for allegedly being involved in the “Blue Strike”, a plan to overthrow the regime of Nicolás Maduro and commit magnicide in which supposedly military Aviation would be involved.
He is placed under the order of the Military Court 5th in control functions and spent his first months of detention in the headquarters of the Dgcim in Boleíta, before being transferred on May 1, 2015 to the prison of Ramo Verde.
After 95 hearings and 36 deferrals, Lieutenant Lugo was condemned, without evidence, for the crimes of instigation of rebellion with aggravating circumstances and the improper use of decorations and military titles. He’s unfairly serving a sentence of five years in the common prison of La Pica in Monagas, 600 kilometers from his home.
